Spending the weekend with my fairy goddaughter Hannah. She is 12 and seriously cool! I have been seriously entertained by her for three days.
We were talking about things she missed about living in Australia, where she lived the first ten years of her life. One of the things that came up was something called Chicken Salt. Now I have never heard of this but the way she talked about it I could tell it was something small but important. Thankfully we live in global age and everything is just a click away on Google. I quickly discovered that (A) Chicken salt is basically a national treasure in Australia and (B) the ingredients are pretty simple.
In a mason jar combine….
6 Tbsp table salt
3 Tbsp chicken stock ( went low sodium because of the 6 Tbsp of salt)
3 Tbsp garlic powder
3 Tbsp paprika
1 Tsp white pepper
1 Tsp onion powder
1 Tsp Celery seeds
Close the lid tightly and shake it like Taylor Swift. In fact, listen you T Swift while you do this. It will be fun!!! I am a firm believe in the kitchen dance party. However as a rule I suggest stop dancing if you have anything to chop. But then again, I’m not your mom.
Hannah was THRILLED! She says it tastes exactly right and has put it on pretty much everything all weekend. The best part is that I can make it for her anytime.
