Today I was making some toilet bowl cleaner and I thought “Hey! Maybe people might light to know how I do this!” And so for your DIY hippy granola enlightenment I give you… TOILET BOWL CLEANER!!
This one is really really easy. I have a old bottle that once contained TB cleaner. I like to reuse it because the shape is great for getting under the rim. Most bottles can be re-purposed but make sure you clean them really well. I’ve read about interaction going terribly wrong and I would hate for something stinky or awful to happen to you.
In a mixing bowl I combined
- 1/2 a cup of castile soap
- 1/2 a cup of baking soda (if you are going to make a lot of your own products invest in a Costco membership of make friends with someone who has one. Trust me, I go thru baking soda like CRAZY!)
- 1 cup of water (Don’t worry about using fancy water, you are going to put it in the toilet, no one cares if it is distilled.)
- 15 drops of tea tree oil
- 15 drops of lemon oil
Then I whisk it together for a looooong time. The baking soda puts up a fight but just power through and show it who’s boss! Finally I use a funnel and pour it in the bottle. You can use it exactly the same way you use the store bought version. I have a dog who drinks out of the toilet and while I don’t think the castile soap is GREAT for her I still feel better with her drinking out of this bowl than one that is full of harsh chemicals.
